The Hawthorne House features an entirely private, one-bedroom Airbnb unit on the first floor and a private two-bedroom residence encompassing the top two floors. Between the two projects, the light-filled structure represents a continued commitment to using local, reclaimed materials. These include reclaimed wood, Pennsylvania slate, and concrete pavers made from excess concrete. Across the two units, highlights include Venitian plaster, an integrated drainboard and cutting board in the Airbnb kitchen, exposed brick, a custom staircase, pine plywood walls form the materials palette, and a master bathroom in the two-story apartment featuring a marble and slate geometric tiled floor.
